Q2. Fill in the blanks

i) The blood from the heart is transported to all parts of the body by the arteries .

ii) Hemoglobin is present in red blood cells

iii) Arteries and veins are joined by a network of capillaries

iv ) The rhythmic expansion and contraction of the heart is called heart beat .

v) The main excretory product in human beings is urea

vi) Sweat contains water and salts

vii) Kidneys eliminate the waste material in the equal form called urine.

viii) Water reaches great heights in the trees because of suction pull caused by transpiration .

Q3. Choose the correct option

a) In plants water is transported through

i) xylem     ii) phloem      iii) stomata    iv) root hair .

 b) Water absorption through roots can be increased by keeping the plants

i) In The shade     ii) In dim light      iii) under the fan       iv) covered with a polythene bag

Q4. Why is transport of materials necessary in the plant or in an animals explain

Answer - The cells of different organs of the plants and animals required the necessary substance carry to perform the various metabolic activity and during this activity different type of waste product are also produced therefore  the transport of material is necessary to supply the required substance and to remove the waste product from plant and animals body

Q5. What will happen if there are no blood platelets in the blood?

Answer- Platelets are helpful to clotting of the blood whenever the cells get injured if there are no  platelets in blood, clotting of the blood is not possible then due to excess blood loss after injury and it finally death of the person causes

Q6. What are stomata give two functions of stomata ?

Answer - Stomata are the tiny opening present on the surface of the leaves

Functions of stomata

  • It helped in the gaseous exchange
  • It help in the process of transpiration

Q7. Does transpiration serve any useful functions in the plants explain?

Answer- Yes transpiration has a very important function in the plants it creates the transpiration pool which is responsible to rise the water inside the plant up to a great height of the tall plants and other trees

Q8. What are the components of blood ? .

Answer- Blood is a fluid ( a liquid) which has a various cells suspended in it the main components of blood are

  • Plasma- it is a fluid part of the blood called plasma
  • RBC- it is also called the red blood cells which contain red pigment called hemoglobin
  • WBC- it is also called white blood cells which fights against the germ and disease which may enter our body.
  • Platelets- the clotting of the blood caused due to the presence of platelets in blood

Q9. Why is blood needed by all the parts of a body ?

Answer - Blood is a fluid connective tissue which is help in transport of various substance like a digested food material from small intestine oxygen from lungs carbon dioxide from various parts of the body it also transport to waste material from the various parts of body , So it is needed to all parts of body

Q10. What makes the blood look red ?

Answer- The blood is red due to presence of hemoglobin in it

Q11. Describe the function of the heart ?

Answer - Heart is a organ  which is help in the pumping of blood . It pumps the deoxygenated blood to the lungs for oxygenation and receives the oxygenated blood from the lungs and pumps it for the different body parts

Q12. Why is it necessary to excrete waste products ?

Answer - A body cell perform the various function or metabolic activities and during these activities its produce certain waste material and released it in blood .These are toxic for our body hence we need to removal it from body
