 Chapter 10- Respiration in organisms

Exercise -

Q1. Why does an athlete breathe faster and deeper than use one after finishing the race?

Answer- Because during the running the muscles of the athlete needs more energy and breathing faster and deeper  more oxygen reaches to the cell and it increases the rate of energy released

Q2. List the similarities and differences between aerobic and anaerobic respiration?

Answer-  Similarities - during both respiration the food is break down into energy

Differences in aerobic and anaerobic respiration

Q3. Why do we often sneeze when we inhale a lot of dust Laden air?

Answer- Sneezing expel the foreign particles from the inhaled air. When we inhaled a lot of dust particle then it create irritation in nasal passage . And these unwanted dust particles causes sneezing

Q4. Three test tubes fill three fourth of each with water label them A ,B and C keep a snail in test tube A a water plant in test tube B and in C gives snail and plant both which test tube would have the highest concentration of CO2

Answer -

1. In test tube only snail is present so it take oxygen for breathing and exhale CO2

2. In second test tube only water plant is there so it take oxygen for respiration but released oxygen during the process of photosynthesis

3. In 3rd test tube both water plant and snail is present snail take Oxygen and release carbon dioxide while that released carbon dioxide is taken by the water plant for the photosynthesis

Show in test tube A the concentration of carbon dioxide is more
